President caution Guyanese not to become pawns in schemes and plots to divide the nation.

Georgetown– Secret traffic and machinations out of Guyana led to a
lot of suffering in the 50’s and 60’s which divided the people along ethnic
lines. The President cautioned Guyanese not to become pawns but be driven by
national interest. “Recently I saw an overseas mission here saying that they
have vested interest in the upcoming elections, now you can have interest, we
welcome assistance, but I am afraid what vested interest has done in the past”.
Jagdeo said sternly ; “no foreigner should have vested interest in the
country’s internal affairs and this concerns me a lot”.
