Georgetown – Mark Hoosein of Fourth Street, Cummings Lodge, ECD, and Rhomayne Li, 18 years of Cummings Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, were today charged with unlawful possession of explosives and throwing explosive in a public place. They appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchmansingh at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court where they pleaded guilty and were each fined $30,000.00 on the charge of unlawful possession of explosives and $10,000.00 on the other charge. The charges follow investigations into an incident that occurred at about 1:30h. yesterday at the University of Guyana Turkeyen Campus where the two students exploded a three-shot fire cracker on Campus causing fear and panic among persons and disrupting classes. Another fire cracker was found by the police after a search of a motor vehicle in which they were travelling.
