Police Headquarters, Eve Leary– Police Commissioner Henry Greene, told TrakkerNews Monday, that there is an ongoing investigation with US authorities on the suspected involvement of a US group funding criminal activities in Guyana. Greene said that the US is currently being briefed on latest information including profile on a main suspect who is an ex soldier residing abroad. Regarding the discovery of the AK 47 rifles, Greene said that the force is not clear whether they belong to the army, and investigators have asked for a trace on the weapons. He said that a main suspect who could have provided more information is now dead.
A notorious criminal suspect who has revealed startling information of a crime syndicate and his involvement in criminal activities during the past 2 years is currently being interrogated. He led police to shallow graves up the Kara Kara creek, Linden where he confessed to killing two of his accomplices and buried them there. The Commissioner said that two weeks ago, police carried out raids in the area and found two camps, but did not find the ones which the suspect in custody led them to. Asked whether the Police is likely to maintain a presence in the area where the camps were discovered, Greene said that it is extremely difficult, but efforts are being made to have river patrols in these areas that are suspected to harbor criminals and used as training camps.
