GDF dedicates first ever day care centre

Georgetown-
The Guyana Defence Force has officially dedicated its first Day Care Centre realising the dreams of many of its members and testimony to the Force’s efforts at putting a more human face to military life.

The Force recognises that the provision of such a service will result in improved proficiency of particularly single mothers who will be assured of their children’s well being while they are on duty.
The Margaret Rose-Arthur Centre is officially named after the first female soldier to enlist in the Guyana Defence Force and will provide excellent services to the children of serving members of the Force.

Ms Arthur, in brief remarks, humbly accepted the honour and recollected that during her tenure many were hopeful for such a facility. She thanked the current administration for making the Day Care facility a reality and urged the soldiers to make full use of and take good care of the facility.
Ret’d Warrant Officer Class II Margaret Rose- Arthur served the Force from February 6, 1967 to February 15, 1992.
