Georgetown– There have been many comments and concerns from members of society since last year about the possible civil unrest expected ahead of the 2011 general elections. At the brink of the new year, some believe that these concerns have been vindicated with the current state of affairs. While the politicians are not saying whether the current attacks and bomb scares are politically motivated, sections of society are beginning to put the pieces together based on Guyana's political and election history. Some say that there are political forces at work to create tension ahead of the elections. The police force has intensified it's security campaign in the city, particularly at the busiest locations and Government offices. For many civilians, the year started on a bad note as many did expect tensions this election.
