Police tracking leads as to the origin of the grenade-Vendors still in shock

Stabroek market, Georgetown–  Police maintains a heavy presence around the Stabroek market where just over 24 hours ago a grenade went off killing the carrier and injuring 19 others, some of whom are still undergoing treatment for shrapnels about their bodies. TrakkerNews today walked through a visibly naked area where stalls once stood. The immediate area where the blast occurred was completely dismantled by the authorities.

One of the vendors who was bruised on the arm from a piece of flying debris from the impact, said that she is re-locating to a much safer area in the market. She acknowledged that the particular area is often filled with questionable characters and a lot of illegal activities normally takes place there. Asked whether, the police were ever informed about the activities, she said many times, but no action is ever taken, and after a while, people never bothered with what really goes on, until now. Many vendors were forced to find alternative locations, after they turned up this morning to find the entire block cleared and the structures removed.

The Police are now examining the possibility of whether the grenade belongs to the Guyana Defense Force or by what means it got into the possession of the dead man. So far there has been no word from the army. TrakkerNews understands that parts of the device will be sent overseas for testing. The Police are still questioning a few people including the owner of the stall, who has so far denied knowledge of any such device or where the junkie could have gotten the grenade from.
