Scrap iron dealers must registered or face prosecution – Prime Minister

Georgetown – Office of the Prime Minister called on scrap metal dealers to be registered and licensed  to carry out their business. The call came after the PM office found evidence of dealers operating without permission. Persons in the past have been vandalizing public and private properties t ply this trade.

Conditions are required before a license is issued and among those are dealers must have their yard in a tidy manner, fencing scrap yards so that they are nit viewed from the main roads.
Trucks and containers are to be loaded and unloaded inside scrap yards.Dealing in nonferrous scrap (copper and aluminum) remains suspended.
