Georgetown – Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee says, his Ministry has prepared a draft Anti-Terrorism bill which is currently being examined for possible submission to Parliament in the not too distant future.
The Anti-Terrorism Bill will seek to criminalize acts of terrorism; provide for the detection, prevention, prosecution, conviction and punishment of terrorist activities.
Acts of terrorism include, but are not limited to –
Hijacking or threatening to hijack any kind of aircraft, ship, vessel, electric or locomotive, passenger bus or other means of mass transportation. Taking or threatening to kidnap, or take hostage, any person in order to compel, coerce or force another person, whether natural or juridical, including government official or agencies to give something of value or a sum of money as a ransom.
Causing or threatening to cause death or serious bodily harm to a person or persons.
Killing of violent attack on internationally protected persons.
Causing serious damage to property, the environment and the national patrimony.
