Police Force get 20 scramblers to patrol the country in the fight against crime

Police Headquarters, Eve Leary-The crime fighting unit of the Guyana Police Force is now further equipped with more mobile capacity following the addition of 20 rough terrain scrambler motorcycles from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The scramblers come at a time when there is increased armed robberies. In his address at a simple handing over ceremony at Police Headquarters, Eve Leary, Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee said  that this addition is a measure which the Government feels will keep the crime situation under control and keep the criminals at bay.

He told the ranks in whose care the motorcycles will be placed to carry out their duty in a manner that is in keeping with the standing orders of the force. “You will be another face out there and will be under constant public scrutiny”, Rohee added. In closing he said that these additional assets will make greater advances and score even better successes to ensure that the country is at peace and in good order.

Police Commissioner Henry Greene said that the cycles are critical in two ways, to move through heavy traffic, and the rough terrains across the country. Greene is confident that the addition will ensure effective law enforcement to keep the citizens and their property safe.
