Berbice : Patricia Samaroo, 57 years, and her sister Annetta Samaroo, 45 years, were among other persons in their home at Fyrish, Corentyne, Berbice, last night when two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, kicked open the door and entered the building.
The armed man discharged rounds at the two sisters fatally wounding Patricia Samaroo to her head and injuring Annetta Samaroo to her abdomen, after which they escaped in a motor vehicle. Annetta has been admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Quick response by the police led to the detaining of the motor vehicle used by the perpetrators which had been rented, and the arrest of two men, one of whom has been identified as one of the suspects.
They are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
