Georgetown : The Office of the President (OP) today has responded to an injunction filed by lawyers of CNS TV 6. According to a release from OP, the President’s Office noted the resort of Sharmaand his legal advisors to the Court to secure relief in the form an injunction restraining the Advisory Committee on Broadcasting (ACB) from discharging its statutory responsibilities with regards to upholding the laws, rules and regulations on broadcasting in Guyana.
The OP release says “the efforts of his legal advisors to prevent the ACB from discharging its statutory responsibilities are in response to their fears that the apologies by CN Sharma the proprietor of CNS Channel 6 could possibly influence the ACB’s recommendation to the President of Guyana regarding his infractions of the law. The ex-parte injunction relief sought was granted. These efforts of his legal advisors are futile since the President had been in possession of the recommendations by the ACB before the ex-parte injunction was sought”.
