Port-of-Spain: The Opposition People's National Movement is calling for the immediate removal of the State of Emergency in light of the government's decision to remove the curfew.
At a news conference called to discuss what the prime minister has described as a victory in the government's fight against crime, Oposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley admitted there was a drop in criminal activity, but he said the State of Emergency failed to legally attack gang activities.
Dr Rowley argued that there's no justification for the government to continue the State of Emergency, accusing the government of using it as a political weapon against the Opposition and the labour movement.
