Over 10,000 children to benefit from Youth Ministry Summer camps

Minister-of-Culture-Youth-and-Sport-Dr.-Frank-Anthony-interacts-with-children-at-a-summer-camp-on-the-East-Coast-DemeraraGeorgetown : The Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport has put together a programme to afford over 10,000 children who are home for the summer vacation the opportunity to participate in different activities that will teach them new things in a fun way.

The programmes are set up in camps and will be held in all 10 Administrative Regions.

There are also special sports camps. These camps will focus solely on physical education and sporting activities such as cricket, football, volleyball, swimming, and lawn tennis. They provide a fun, yet educational opportunity for children to get involved in sports, and also for those who may already be involved to better their s

The museums also will be hosting campaigns and workshops for children to educate them about their history, ancestry and roots, and to allow them to explore and experience new cultures and traditions. The Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology’s summer camp package includes the teaching of indigenous languages.

There is also the Pan Minors Music Literacy programme, which is another summer programme that teaches students about pan music. A total of 175 children will be benefit from this venture.

According to Youth and Culture Minister Dr. Frank Anthony, these camps promise to be exciting, educational and recreational, and are an ideal way for children to spend their summer and to have the opportunity of experiencing something new while making new friends, learning and at the same time having fun.
