Georgetown : The Ministry of Home Affairs’s Stray Catching Units have impounded a total of 201 animals during the month of September. These operations were conducted on the East Bank of Demerara and along the Corentyne coast.
According to the Ministry this afternoon,of the animals impounded, there were 56 goats, 56 cows, 48 sheep and 43 horses. The Home Ministry continues to appeal to cattle owners to ensure that animals are kept off the roadways and clear from vehicular traffic.
Cattle owners are reminded to ensure that all calves over six months old must be branded.
Further, persons are advised that everyone, who releases or attempts to release any stray taken for the purpose of being impounded, shall be liable to a fine of not less than ten thousand dollars and not more than twenty thousand dollars.
