Georgetown : Two men are in police custody after being arrested by ranks of a mobile patrol for robbing a taxi driver.
Reports are at about 8pm yesterday, taxi-driver Carlton Jerrick of North East La Penitence, Georgetown, was attacked and robbed of his motor car at Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown, by two men whom he had picked up as passengers.
The 50 year old taxi driver had picked up the men at Vlissengen Road and was taking them to Durban Backlands when he was attacked by the two men who choked him, put him out of the motor car HB 6228, and escaped with the vehicle.
A report was made to the police and patrols were alerted via the radio network. Quick response led to the motor car being intercepted by a police patrol at Herstelling, EBD, and the two suspects inside were arrested.
