St Clair: Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar has announced that the 2011/2012 budget will be read on Monday October 10th.
She says several new programmes are being introduced but she was not disclosing much as she spoke to reporters outside of the St Clair Medical Centre.
The Cabinet had met on Tuesday to discuss the budget one day before the prime minister was admitted to the medical facility. She says the meeting went well.
The prime minister says several new programmes are being looked at and she says funding for the fast ferry which services the inter-island route may change. The budget is coming amidst fears of a double-dip global recession and continued efforts by the government to address the effects of the Clico, CL Financial debacle.
The budget must be passed by the end of October.
