Port-of-Spain: Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says at her Government will seek to extend the State of Emergency in Trinidad and Tobago when the Parliament debates it on Friday.
However, the Prime Minister says they will reduce the curfew hours which currently runs from 9pm to 5am.
The prime minister insists that the State of Emergency has been a success so far with the arrest of over 800 people. She says the extension is to allow the security forces additional time to complete their work.
She says there would be long term measures to deter people away from a life of crime including social programmes.
However, in the meantime, the prime minister has paid tribute to those charged with the responsibility of keeping the country safe.
