PM & delegation leave for India

Piarco: Prime Minster Kamla Persad-Bissessar has left on a two week trip to India.

She is accompanied by her husband Dr Gregory Bissessar, several government ministers and a high-powered team from the business community.

While in India the prime minister will pay a courtesy call on the president of India, Her Excellency, Shrimati Pratibha Patil.

It is the first such visit by a head of government from this country in 15 years.

The prime minister will enjoy the distinguished status of guest of government during her two-week bilateral visit.

She is accompanied by strong ministerial and business delegations.

Trinidad and Tobago she says is moving to establish and finalise memoranda of understanding in various areas such as energy, agriculture, education, medicine, information communication technologies, fashion, film production and animation.     

It is expected that officials will engage private and public sector companies and agencies in discussions aimed at attracting investment and technical co-operation to Trinidad and Tobago.
