PM heads to India

Port-of-Spain: Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, leaves on Monday for India, on a state visit as an official guest of the government of India at the invitation of that country's prime minister  Dr Manmohan Singh.

The prime minister's packed itinerary includes a courtesy call on the President of India, Srimati Pratibha Devisingh Patil.

She will also meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with whom she will hold high delegation level talks.

The prime minister will be the chief guest at the annual Pravasi Bhartiya Divas event in Jaipur, which recognizes non-resident indians globally.

Public Utilities Minister Emmanuel George says government is looking to India for expertise in broadband internet access and water management technologies.

Government’s major goals for 2012 include economic growth, job creation, competitiveness and innovation.
