Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has described Dominica’s economic citizenship programme, which has been criticized by activists here and abroad, as a very transparent arrangement, according to a Dominica NewsOnline report.
Following calls for a commission of inquiry into the programme by an overseas-based group of “patriots”, the prime minister told DNO there was no need for such a probe because the government had nothing to hide in relation to what critics suggest is the indiscriminate selling of Dominican passports to “unscrupulous” characters on the international market.
The PM said all the money raised from the programme is accounted for and audited by the Director of Audit and submitted to the parliament. He also rejected as baseless suggestions that he was personally involved in the sale of Dominican passports and added that other related claims were part of a smear campaign against his administration and had no merit.
