PNC says the PPP attempt to subvert the role of Parliament

Georgetown :The People’s National Congress Reform rejects the highhanded and dictatorial behaviour of the Jagdeo PPP/C Administration in attempting to manipulate the National Assembly of the Parliament of Guyana, as though it is an extension of the Office of the President.

The PNCR will, therefore, not allow their Parliamentarians to be manipulated by President Bharrat Jagdeo and his band at the Office of the President, as they seek to postpone the Parliamentary recess, scheduled for the 10th August – 10th October 2011, to fulfil the partisan political objectives of the PPP.

The PNC claims that two days ago the PPP proposes to move a Motion in the National Assembly today, to postpone the Parliamentary recess from 10th August to late September 2011. According to the PPP spokesperson, they have some urgent bills to present to the National Assembly.

The PNCR is unaware of the nature of these
for the suspension of the Standing Order No. 9, to alter the recess period.
