Ricky Pointing is the first international franchise player to signed for the inaugural Caribbean Premier League (CPL) which is scheduled to start in July this year.
Pointing a former Australian captain will find out which franchise he will be playing for at the CPL draft in May. The CPL is scheduled to take place from July 29 to August 26 in Barbados, Antigua, Guyana, Jamaica, St Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago.
"The West Indies has alway been one of my favourite destinations. The mix of entertainment and cricket is the perfect recipe for West Indian cricket fans as well as the rest of the world", Pointing said.
"The format and the concept is just fantastic and I am sure it will be a huge success right from the start", he added,
Six West Indian cricketers have already been comfirmed as franchise players there are Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Chris Gayle, Dawyne Bravo and Darren Sammy.
Pointing played 168 test matches and scored 13,704 test runs, he made 13704 in 375 One Day Internationals and 401 runs in 17 T20 matches.
He retired from international cricket in December 2012.
