Police apologise for assault on TCL protestors

Claxton Bay: Senior police officers investigating the alleged assault of workers at a strike camp outside of the Trinidad Cement Limited, have apologised to the workers.

Workers at the camp say that two seniors police officers including Senior Superintendent David Hackshaw met with them at 10 am and apologised for what took place.

The workers say the police informed them that they will be thoroughly investigating the circumstances that occured on Tuesday but also told them that it will take some time to properly review the tapes and make a final determination.

Workers says police officers stationed outside of the TCL compound beat several of them during a peaceful picket on Tuesday.
