Police concerned about antisocial behaviour by road users

Bridgetown.

The Police Force has pledged to make the country's roads safer.

This assurance came from administrator of the Traffic Division of the Force, Inspector Leon Blades, during an address at the launch of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety.

Blades said that the Police conducted several efforts to promote road safety, mainly through policing strategies.

"Part of these strategies are everyone uses the road at some point in time, either as pedestrians, drivers or passengers", Blades said.

"We are concerned about the unlawful and antisocial way in which some people use the road", he added.

He stated that statistics showed that approximately 25 persons lost their lives yearly on the road, and over 2,500 persons are injured.
