Police considering new legislation for noise pollution

Bridgetown.

Commissioner of Police Darwin Dotton is considering asking the Government to draft legislation to deal with noise pollution on the island.

Speaking to the press yesterday after a service at the Ann Gill Memorial Methodist to commemorate the start of Police Week 2012 , the Commissioner said

: "We are facing an enormous problem  concerning noise from karaokes, public fetes and what people call birthday parties. We have so many complains from residents who are utterly fed up, we are trying control it through the Highway Act and I told my commanders they have to be very judicious about it".

"It is a mssive problem and we are going to use what legislative approaches we have to address the problem and I am thinking that we might have to ask the Government to look at the question of drafting addition legislation to deal with noise pollution", he added.
