Georgetown: The motto of the police clearly states"To Serve and Protect", however some policemen on patrol have forgotten their charge. During the past 3 months, there have been numerous complaints of police abuse and excesses. The Police Complaints Authority has it's fair share of allegations against most of these officers. Only last week a New Amsterdam resident suffered a broken hand allegedly by police ranks who picked him up and threw him in the lockups without explanation. Reports are that when he questioned them the ranks dealt him three lashes to his right hand. Even after he complained of feeling pain the man was thrown behind bars. He said the ranks cursed him terribly and treated him as if he was a criminal. People are now saying that citizens apart from being scared of the bandits are now being threatened and beaten by the police. During a robbery last week, a resident told Trakkernews that the police just like the bandits. Some police officers have a tendency of loud cursing and use excessive force when dealing with citizens. Apart from the many cases at the Complaints Authority, the question people are now asking is if the police high command is aware of what the ranks are doing, why no serious actions are being taken to weed out bad cops from the force.
