Georgetown : The Guyana Police Force today responded to an article published in the Kaieteur News under the heading “Police Force to undergo major reshuffling.”
The Police Force says there is no major reshuffling as stated in the newspaper and is informing the public that the postings are merely to fill vacancies that have occurred in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and in “A” Division (Georgetown/East Bank Demerara). These have been as a result of the appointment of Mr. Seelall Persaud, DSM, as acting Commissioner and the retirement of Assistant Commissioner George Vyphuis, DSM, who were in command of the CID and “A” Division, respectively.
The filling of these two positions will obviously have consequential vacancies that will also have to be filled. In addition, there will be some postings that are related to a new project that the Guyana Police Force will be embarking on shortly.
However, the number of postings will be far less than the 62 stated in the Kaieteur News.
The Police Force wishes to express its concern over the continued publishing of misleading information about the organisation by the Kaieteur News, which has the potential to create mischief, and is calling on those concerned to desist from this type of behaviour.
The Guyana Police Force wishes to assure citizens that all the postings will be made public next Monday.
