Police investigate burnt remains; murder in Claxton Bay

El Socorro: Police officers attached to the Homicide Bureau are trying to determine the identity of human remains discovered in El Socorro this afternoon, bringing to nine the number of people either murdered or discovered dead over the Christmas holidays.

Officers on patrol in the El Socorro area were alerted to the discovery on Dookhan Trace, by residents around 1pm.

On checking they found the burnt remain of a human body in the form of bones and a skull. Officers say it is too early in their investigations to determine the person's identity.

It was found at the very end of Dookhan Trace where large burnt-out patches could be seen in what is a farming community.

Meanwhile a murder Monday night at Forres Park, Claxton Bay is also being investigated by homicide police officers.

According to police reports, 34-year-old Krishendath Ramessar was liming on the roadway with friends around 7pm Monday night when a man dressed in black walked up to him and shot him at close range. He died on the spot.

Prior to these two incidents the police were already investigating seven other killings over the weekend including the stabbing death of 23-year-old Ayanna Phillip in La Romaine on Monday.

She was stabbed to death by someone she knew.
