Police plan sickout from Monday

Port-of-Spain: Police officers are expected to begin sickout action from as early as Monday next week.

The Police Social and Welfare Association today aborted its meeting the with Chief Personnel Officer, who is sticking with the five percent offer to officers.

President of the association Sgt Anand Ramesar says the central committee of the association is holding discussions to map a way forward for officers.

He says the committee has the decisive say on what course of action officers should take and he himself is not aware of the decision. This has led to speculation that officers will be going ahead with the long threatened sick out action as originally planned in July.

The association's president says officers remain frustrated and are ready to take whatever action is necessary to get their just dues.
