Police probe discovery of burnt body; Morvant murder

Pointe-a-Pierre: Police are probing the discovery of burnt human remains found at empty bungalow at Carib Valley, Pointe-a-Pierre, which is on the state-oil company, Petrotrin compound.

In a statement Petrotrin confirmed the discovery and said that state police had mounted a homicide investigation into the matter.

The remains have since been removed and taken to the Forensic Sciences Centre.

Meantime one man is dead and three others wounded following a shooting incident in Morvant last night.

Police say that just after 9 pm, 32-year-old Sheldon Lewis was in the company of two other men at the corner of Paris Boulevard, when they were ambushed by masked gunmen.

The gunmen are said to have opened fire indiscriminately.

Lewis died on the spot while the three other men were rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
