Police probe kidnapping of attorney’s son

St. John’s Antigua : A major police investigation is underway into the short-lived kidnapping of the pre-teen son of an attorney.

The 12-year-old was snatched from his home by four men, who reportedly left a ransom note in the house demanding $700,000 Tuesday afternoon.

However, a few hours after grabbing the child, the kidnappers dumped him on Anchorage Road, where a female passer-by reportedly found him trembling and crying some time around 7 pm.

The woman reportedly quizzed the schoolboy and he explained what happened.

“His mother and grandmother went out and told him to lock the door but apparently he didn’t,” the source said.

“The men walked into the house and one of the men grabbed him while the other three searched the house and stole an iPad and three remote controls.

Reports indicate the kidnappers used a small bus to carry out the offence.

Sources told OBSERVER Media it is the second time someone has attacked the child within the past two months.

Several weeks ago, a woman reportedly accosted the child and slapped him across the face while he was walking near his school in the city.

Police are probing both incidents.
