Lawmen are investigating the apparent suicide of a recruit at the Regional Police Training Centre.
Darwin Downes, 30, of Holder’s Terrace, St James, reportedly died of a gunshot injury to the head around 8 o'clock last night.
According to unconfirmed reports Downes, who was due to qualify as a lawman at a passing out parade next week, is believed to have used an M16 firearm to take his life.
Downes reportedly complained of having domestic problems to some of his close friends.
