Georgetown: A woman who visited Alberttown Police Station to make a report was sexually assaulted by a 48-year-old Police Sergeant.
The Sergeant, Norris Henry of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged for sexually assaulting the woman.
It is alleged that on the day in question the victim went to the Alberttown Police Station to make a report.
Henry then escorted the victim to the Police vehicle to accompany her to make an arrest based on the report she made.
While in the vehicle, it was alleged that Henry rubbed the woman’s leg.
Henry was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that October 17, 2018, at Albert Street, Alberttown, he sexually assaulted a woman, by rubbing her leg without her consent.
The matter was held in camera and Henry was released on $120,000 bail. The matter was adjourned until May 21, 2019.
