Georgetown- It is an occurence all over the world where senior ranking officers are involved with the drug cartels. It is the order of things, say a former senior member of the force speaking to Trakkernews today. " The cartels must have people in key institutions looking out for their interest and bending the laws so that they can operate their illegal trade", he added. The security expert who wished not to be named, explained that this is a regular occurence that has been happening for years, but a few of these officers are being exposed because of their lapses. Anything for a buck, he said, the officers are underpaid, thus the drug cartels have lucrative offers. Two senior officers were recently implicated in having ties with the drug cartels. This happened during a recent meeting with the force's administration. A controversial senior superintendent who was part of the infamous black clothes police, made these allegations. So far one member implicated has already resigned. Whether criminal charges will be brought against those involved is yet to be determined once a full scale investigation is completed.
