A leading businessman in Barbados say the politics of government is getting in the way of progress on the island.
According to Antony King the CEO of Barbados Shipping and Trading, the Government of Barbados should stop lashing out at the entire private sector and deal with the specific perpetrators of price gouging and the other ills that are affecting the society.
“Government has a tier of career people and then there is a tier of politicians, so the politics of government gets in the way, I would really like to see Government stop from trying to deflect blame by finding somebody to put the blame on” says King.
He feels that instead of making sweeping statements Government should work with the private sector to help find solutions.
“But in recent times I have seen a kind of lashing out at the private sector” lamented King.
He was speaking at a special luncheon of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
