Port-of-Spain: Port police officers are back on the job following the intervention of the Minister of Transport Devant Maharaj yesterday.
Around 90 percent of the workers stayed off the job on Monday complaining about the long delays the chief personnel officer is taking to settle negotiations for estate police officers.
The first vice president of the Estate Police Association, Curtis Robertson says the officers decided to return to work after the minister's statement to the chairman of the board of the Port Authority, Joseph Toney, to quickly deal with the situation sometime this week.
Robertson says they are just awaiting a call from the Authority to meet on the issue.
