Bridgetown.
Over 40 auxillary postal workers and clerical staffers employed with the Barbados Postal Service are being laid off today.
The workers who are attached to the various post offices, were summoned to a 2 p.m. meeting in the conference room at the General Post Office on Cheapside,Bridgetown where there were informed that they were being sent home.
After the announcement there was a hush follow by grumbling while some of the workers held their heads in shock.
According to a source, some of the workers have not been paid for as long as three months, they enquired when they will get their money but were given a definitive.
