The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs yesterday engaged the residents of Rockstone, Region 10 in a community meeting where pertinent matters relating to the community’s development were discussed.
Amerindian Affairs Minister, Pauline Sukhai in her address said that there should always be space for groups and organisations that can contribute positively to the community’s development.
She said that groups within the communities should not compete for power, rather they should engage in the type of competition that will boost development.
“I would like to advise all groups to work together; your cooperation will be complementing everybody’s efforts… at the Ministry we would support any grouping that intends to work for the betterment of the community,” the Minister said.  Minister Sukhai pointed out that the concerns that residents have as it relates to governance is not unique to Rockstone as they exist in other communities as well and reminded that the Amerindian Act outlines a good procedure when it comes to addressing such issues .
