Georgetown- Just around 4:30pm, Chief Elections Officer, Gocool Boodhoo made the long awaited announcement that the PPP/C has won the 2011 general elections with a total of 32 seats in the National Assembly. APNU follows with 29 seats and the AFC 7 seats. The total number of votes including the national top up votes amounted to 342,236. APNU 139, 678, AFC 35,333, PPP/C 166,340 and the TUF 885. Boodhoo declared that voter turnout overall was 72.9%. APNU 40.8, AFC 10.3, PPP/C 48.6, TUF 0.2. The PPP/C for the last 19 years have enjoyed majority representation in Parliament until today's declaration. As far as the regional votes are concerned the APNU won 74, AFC 27, PPP/C 102 and the TUF 2.
