PPP/C worried about losing majority representation in Parliament.

Georgetown- In what was described as a near defeat for the incumbent PPP/C and one of the most competative elections for almost 2 decades, there is much concerns and dissappointment in the ruling party's camp. The 32 seats won at this years polls reflects a poor turnout of supporters as was cited by PPP/C spokesman Robert Persaud.

“Those of you, our supporters who did not go out to vote simply because you felt our party’s victory was a foregone conclusion now recognize how close this indifference came to nearly destroying the gains made since 1992,” he said.

But while the PPP/C is worried, the Alliance for Change and A Partnership for National Unity have expressed satisfaction that the people of Guyana can now be properly represented with an opposition majority in the National Assembly. AFC gained 7 seats, while APNU got 26 seats following last Monday's polls.
