Georgetown : The first ever exposition showcasing the full potential of Guyanese women, "Feminition" was launched last evening with an assurance from President Bharrat Jagdeo of Government's full support to issues of importance to women whom he described as society's greatest risk takers.
Held on the forecourt of the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, the inaugural event, organised through the Ministry of Labour Human Services and Social Security and private sector agencies, will be held for three days to provide women with a platform to "springboard" improvement of their lives and families. Among the highlights of the launch were the presentation of a special waist wrap by a Surinamese national to Minister of Human Services and Social Security Priya
President Jagdeo, called for the event to be more than a mere exposition, but one that will create a sense of duty among women to take up leadership and advocacy roles in societal and global affairs that are of importance to both genders. He turned his attention to the challenges faced in the Guyanese society of losing males, particularly young boys to negative influences in society, noting that it must be an issue of concern to women.
