His Excellency Brigadier David Granger, President of Guyana, , on a telephone call, expressed deepest condolences to the family of the late Randolph Holder, 33, a Guyanese immigrant and a police officer for five years, in the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Speaking to Holder’s grandmother, Elizabeth Lovell, who raised the young man and his brother since their mother passed away when they were only 16 and 7 years old respectively, the President opined that the young man was in the prime of his life.  Lovell, who has known the President since he was a little boy attending the Auckline Primary School, expressed appreciation for the call.

She said that Holder was always a disciplined and ‘mannerly’ child.  Lovell added that because of the field of work he was in, he had always said that should anything happen to him; he would like to be returned to Guyana and buried with his mother.  His family is granting this request and Holder’s body will be flown into Guyana next Thursday, escorted by members of the NYPD.
