Georgetown: President Donald Ramotar reiterated his government’s disappointment in cuts made to the 2013 National Budget by the Opposition parties in Parliament today, as he used the occasion of the Labour Rally hosted by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions in Guyana (FITUG) to express his displeasure.
The event was hosted at the May Day rally at the National Park.
Ramotar said he cannot understand some of the arguments that have been used to cut the budget, as he also called for unity in the trade union movement.
Underscoring that the trade unions movement in Guyana are divided, he said the unions have to wake up to reality and notice what is happening.
Scores of workers joined their trade unions on a rainy labour day as they marched through the streets of Georgetown.
