Georgetown: President David Granger has invited Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo to meet with him to “discuss the current political situation in Guyana resulting from the decision of the Caribbean Court of Justice made on Tuesday, June 18.”
The two are expected to meet at the Ministry of the Presidency after Monday, June 24, 2019 and will also discuss, “the consequential order that will be made on Monday, June 24, 2019.”
In a letter dated Thursday, June 20, Director General, Ministry of the Presidency, Joseph Harmon made the correspondent on behalf of the President.
The Director-General speaking to the media on the side lines of the commissioning ceremony for the University of Guyana’s Centre of Excellence on Thursday, June 19, 2019 had indicated that a letter will soon be dispatched to the Opposition Leader, inviting him to a meeting with President.
DG Harmon had said that the letter serves to demonstrate President Granger’s commitment to “engagement and dialogue” with the Opposition Leader in the interest of the development of Guyana.
On Tuesday, June 18 the Caribbean Court of Justice ruled that the December 21, 2018 vote was validly passed.
