Special specifically to his wife. “I have come this far largely because of her love and support, over the years…she been with me on the campaign trail. She has been with me over the last four decades, thank you Sandra for your support and love,” he said.

The President also used the opportunity to show his support for the citizens. A birthday gift of a 40-seater – 200 horse power boat and life jackets were pledge to the children of Pomeroon to transport them to school. The boat was donated by members of the business community and a group of friends of the President.

“…every river I have been to, children cannot get to school because they do not have a boat. Sometimes you see children paddling to school. They get there tired and then have to paddlee back home at night…This is a very practical gift, so hold the frankincense and hold the myrrh, let’s have the school boats instead…so that every Guyanese child can get to school,” the President said.

Speaking of his role as President of Guyana, the retired army brigadier said, “I have been trained for this position, I don’t say this immodestly; I came into this compound as platoon commander and I am back here as Commander-in-Chief, but as you heard, it took me 50 years to travel that distance.”

The President also reiterated his government’s commitment to national unity, inclusionary democracy, and giving every single Guyanese, regardless of ethnicity, religion or place of origin, a good life.
