Prime Minister has not responded to request for a meeting says Jordan

Bridgetown.

Out going president of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) Colin Jordan, says Prime Minister Freundel Stuart has failed to respond to a request for an ugrent meeting to discuss the plight of the tourism industry.

Addressing the annual general meeting of the BHTA at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Jordan said presidents and past presidents of the association had written a letter to Stuart pointing out the difficulties facing the hotel sector and tourism in general.

"After two and a half months we are still waiting that requested urgent meeting with the Prime Minister", Jordan said.

Jordan said the hotel sector was in crisis and called for more vision and more strategic thinking at the policy making level.

He stated that Barbados would have to ensure that it created an environment where full service hotel, as major employers, VAT contributors and foreign exchange earners, were allow to strive.
