Prime Minister says Government on track

Bridgetown.

Prime Minister of Barbados Freundel Stuart says that his Government is facing the global recession head on.

He made the comments in an  interview on the state run Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation earlier this week.

Stuart stated that the Government has placed emphasis on maintaining stability in the country, ensuring confidence in the business community and keeping workers employed.

He suggested that any objective evaluation of the Government performance to date would show that they  have been succeeding.

"The  recent report by the Governor of the Central Bank on the performance of the economy in the first quarter, make it clear that there are signs of light" says Stuart.

"The tourism industry is looking up and I think that we have been on the right track, I do not see any reason to change course at this stage", he added.
