Bridgetown.
Prime Minister of Barbados Freundel Stuart, says he plans to bring a swift end to the impasse between the Barbados Secondary Teacher Union (BSTU) and the principal of the Alexandra School Jeff Broomes.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service in honour of Barbados' first Prime Minister and National Hero Errol Barrow yesterday at the St Lucy's Parish Church, Stuart vowed to end the impasse making decisions without "fear or favour'.
"It is unfortunate that the school should be embroiled in a squabble at this time.I have heard people say this side is the right side and the other side is right but as far as I am concern, the children are right. It is their interest that concern me, first and paramount in this mater, to me is the welfare of the children", Stuart said.
"Over the past few years, there have been reports of problems at Alexandra School to often, that is what I am concern with and that is what I am prepared to deal with. There has to be a root problem to all of this and whatever the root problem is it will be dealt with simple as that", the Prime Minister said.
