Bridgetown.
The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, has renamed its Clinical Skills Building, formerly the Nightingale Nurses Home, in honour of Professor Sir Errol Walrond.
Sir Errol served as Vice Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UWI, Cave Hill, Barbados. He expanded and improved the Faculty programmes by extending the clerkship programme, allowing the entry of students from other UWI campuses into the programme, and providing more alternatives for students choosing elective courses.
Speaking during the ceremony this morning, Principal of the UWI Cave Hill Campus, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, praised Sir Errol for his contribution and expressed the hope that the development of the UWI’s Medical Faculty, would signal the beginning of a health based economy in Barbados.
