Proposal for Teacher’s Service Commission before Cabinet

Bridgetown.

After several calls throughout the years,  there has been some movement towards the establishment of a Teachers' Service Commission in Barbados.

This was revealed by Minister of Education Ronald Jones, while speaking to an estimated 3000  primary and secondary schoolteachers at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Complex yesterday.

Jones told the teachers that  the proposal to set up a  Teachers' Service Commission went before Cabinet a few weeks ago.

The Minister stated that a Teachers' Service Commission has been on the card since 1873 and acknowledged that the actual entiity had taken a long time to established,
